bpmNEXT 2016 Defining the Next Generation of Process Innovation

W4, ITESOFT Group is participating in the bpmNEXT conference to be held in Santa Barbara CA April 19-21, 2016.

The following is an extract of the demonstration that will be presented by Francois Bonnet on the theme of collaborative business process management.

BPM and Enterprise Social Networks for Flexible Case Management

Business Process Management is (also) known to be rigid while organizations expect flexibility when implementing their business processes.   Enterprise Social Networks facilitate collaboration of professionals in a business environment, but may lack in structure and may not deliver the outcomes.

During this session, we will demonstrate how, when combined, BPM and ESN meet the ultimate goal of providing flexibility in a structured world, and present some of the benefits of such a combination: interweaving predefined process sequences with unstructured collaboration to fulfill customer expectations.

Moreover, this approach is a way to leverage the ontology based on ESN users’ behavior. Some process instances may require special skills that cannot be predefined. In this case, BPM can call on ESN to identify the person with relevant skills to perform the task for this particular context. In addition, while the process is running, it may happen that the collaboration set in motion for solving the issue consequently unblocks the task completion in some cases.

At the end of the day, the mix of both structure and flexibility brings the organization an interesting balance to let people work together for the interest of the customer, whether internal or outside the organization.
